We are now looking for a Digital Image Analysis specialist to join our Remote Sensing research team in Espoo
As a Senior Scientist, Digital Image Analyst you are focusing on analyzing Earth Observation and other remotely sensed image data. Your key goals are developing methodologies for near-real-time data analysis of satellite remotely sensed data, including hyperspectral data. The position is in Espoo.
Our Remote Sensing team conducts data analysis of remotely sensed data, driving innovative solutions for assessing and monitoring natural resources, object detection, semantic segmentation, and other application areas. You will be at the forefront of cutting-edge technologies, including time series analysis, near-real-time data processing, AI-based solutions, and multi-source data fusion. As a member of our team, you will collaborate with world-renowned research institutes, universities, and companies, and have the opportunity to contribute to impactful areas such as security, national defense, and natural resource monitoring.
As a Senior Scientist, you will:
- Work as a data scientist in analyzing EO data and other remotely sensed data.
- Manage research and commercial projects, write, and contribute to grant proposals and commercial project tenders.
- Develop and implement novel AI-based analysis methods to interpret remotely sensed data.
- Document the results (in English) and communicate with customers and other stakeholders.
Who we are looking for:
We expect that you have
- At least two years of working experience with digital image analysis
- Deep understanding of 2D/3D object recognition, image segmentation, motion detection, or video tracking methods
- Strong experience in AI/machine learning methods including classification and/or regression modelling
- Basic knowledge of GIS/spatial analysis, and statistics
- Good cooperation and networking skills.
- At least an MSc degree in information sciences or another suitable discipline.
- Fluent in written and oral communication in English.
Hands-on experience with methods like R-CNN, SSD, and YOLO will be regarded as plus.
